We’re back and it’s time to discuss the current trends for summer 2024. Can you believe it’s July already! It’s time to create a fresh new look in your homes with inspiration from the following summer trends we’re seeing A LOT of. We’ll also talk about what we at John Amabile Design are incorporating into our current projects. Let’s dive in and explore how you can bring a touch of spring/summer charm to your home.
Organic Elements
This summer, we’re seeing a beautiful blend of natural elements and modern aesthetics. Think earthy tones, sustainable materials, and organic shapes. We can't help but notice the resurgence of a classic architectural element, the arch. Arches are making a stylish comeback in interior design, bringing elegance, fluidity, and timeless charm. This can be doorways, windows or even furniture and accessories. It creates a lovely softness and a sense of calm to a space, and we are definitely going to be incorporating this into our projects.
Bold Colours
Summer 2024 is introducing the bold colours. From rich midnight plum, rust and burgundy to deep navy blues and vibrant oranges, don’t shy away from making a statement. We have also seen a rise in peach/apricot which was expected after peach fuzz was announced as the colour of the year. Whether it’s an accent wall, a piece of statement furniture, or even colourful kitchen cabinetry, these hues will inject life and personality into your home. The 'everything white' trend is fading, making way for warmer tones. While we still love a neutral scheme, think creams, beiges, browns, and cosy textures, all complemented by a pop of one of these vibrant colours. Balance is good!
Outdoor Living
Summer is ideally for spending more time outdoors, and 2024 is all about blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living. Think comfortable outdoor furniture, cosy fire pits, and stylish pergolas. Create an inviting outdoor space where you can relax, entertain, and enjoy the warm weather. Consider using outdoor rugs, cushions, and throws to bring the comfort of your home to your garden or balcony. We have some really great outdoor fabric ranges from some of our suppliers that allow us to make outdoor furniture exciting and unique, just for you.
Sustainable Design
Sustainability continues to be a major focus in interior design. This summer, we’re seeing a rise in eco-friendly materials. From furniture made of recycled materials to energy-efficient lighting and organic fabrics, there are countless ways to make your home more sustainable. Not only will you be doing your part for the environment, but sustainable choices also often bring a sense of calm and natural beauty to your space.
Artisan Touches
There’s something incredibly special about pieces that have been crafted by hand. Artisan furniture and décor items are trending this summer, adding a unique and personal touch to interiors. Look for handwoven textiles, ceramic vases, and bespoke wooden furniture. These pieces often tell a story and bring a sense of authenticity and uniqueness to your home.
Patterns, Prints, and Textures
One thing is clear: patterns, prints, and textures are having a major moment. These elements are breathing new life into interiors, offering a vibrant way to add depth, personality, and a touch of the unexpected to our homes. From bold geometric designs to delicate florals, patterns can really set the tone and mood of a space. As for textures, we have always been big fans of adding multiple textures to our designs. It is a great way to add visual interest to your space and make it uniquely yours. We love to use a mix of natural textures such as woods and stones and soft cosy textures through cushions and throws. We also love a textured voile.
